"Hardcore Henry": Jimmy's Secret... Cyborg Resurrection Theory!
Okay, so I just rewatched "Hardcore Henry" (because, why not? It's insane!) and I'm officially diving down a rabbit hole. Hear me out: I think all the Jimmys are failed cyborg prototypes that preceded Henry. Director Ilya Naishuller throws so much at you, it's easy to miss... but think about it. First off, the sheer number of Jimmys is ridiculous. We see him die, like, a lot. And each time, he's back with a (mostly) plausible yet conveniently explained reason. The wheelchair Jimmy? Cybernetic leg. The pyro Jimmy? Flame resistant implants + something about 'testing'. But what if they're all connected through something more... something Akan doesn't know? My theory is that Henry's resurrection tech was built on the failures from the Jimmy Project, and Jimmy somehow has limited access to that technology, making him a pseudo-immortal cyborg. It would explain his willingness to help Henry and maybe why Akan wants him alive so badly - to learn more about the resurrections. Specifically, the lab scene where Jimmy shows Henry the schematic and later on, when Jimmy seemingly 'upgrades' Henry's weapons. It all feels too casual. Like, he's done this before. I fully admit it's a bit crackpot, but it adds another layer to the already bonkers world. Is it just me, or did anyone else get this vibe? I feel like Ilya could've added a little to it to make this theory more believable. Also, the sound design in the final fight is phenomenal! The way they layered Henry's cyborg sounds with his grunts and the sheer brutality of it all... chefs kiss. But that's just me getting distracted by the technical brilliance. Let me know what you guys think! I'm ready to be told I'm completely off-base haha.
