"The Conjuring 2" - Fashionably Frightening (or is it just me?)

Okay, so I just re-watched "The Conjuring 2" and while I was properly creeped out (that nun is terrifying!), I couldn't help but notice some costume choices. I know horror movies are usually more about the scares than the clothes, but still! Lorraine's style is sooooo 70s, and I am living for it. Did anyone else notice how her blouses were always perfectly tucked into her high-waisted pants? That mustard yellow coat in the beginning? Chef's kiss! Actual vintage goals. But then you have the Hodgson family rocking a very different vibe. Very working-class London, lots of practical layers. I especially clocked Janet's clothes; lots of hand-me-downs vibes. But the thing that has me wondering is, did they intentionally use muted colors for the Hodgsons to contrast with the Warrens' slightly more vibrant (though still 70s-appropriate) clothing? It's subtle but I think it works to create an economic contrast between the American visitors and the British family. ALSO, bonus question: Am I the only one who thinks that the nun demon (Valak) should get some credit for an iconic horror movie 'fit? Like, simple but effective. Just sayin'! So, fellow fashion-aware horror fans, did anyone else read anything into the costumes in "The Conjuring 2", or am I just seeing things through a vintage-obsessed lens? Let me know your thoughts!
