Saw "Sing" Last Night -- Thoughts!

Okay, so I finally got around to watching "Sing" (I know, I'm super late to the party!). It was definitely...a lot. I went in expecting just a cute, fluffy animated movie, and while it was cute and fluffy, it also had some genuinely great character moments that I wasn't expecting. I was particularly drawn to Rosita (the pig mom, voiced by Reese Witherspoon). Her whole arc about rediscovering her passion for singing while juggling her kids felt really relatable, even though, ya know, I'm not a pig. The scene where she's dancing and singing in the supermarket after Gunter inspires her? That was pure joy. Speaking of Gunter, he was hilarious! But I think the real standout for me performance-wise was Taron Egerton as Johnny. I already knew he could sing (Rocketman, anyone?), but his vulnerability as Johnny, trying to break free from his dad's expectations and pursue his music, was really touching. That final performance of "I'm Still Standing" gave me chills. It's kind of amazing what animation can convey when paired with a strong vocal performance. Buster Moon, the koala, I felt was a bit... much. I get he was supposed to be this optimistic, never-give-up type, but sometimes he just came across as naive to the point of being frustrating. The whole theater collapsing thing was a bit OTT. But overall, I enjoyed it! It's not gonna win any awards for groundbreaking storytelling, but it's a fun watch with some surprisingly heartfelt moments and some really strong vocal performances. Did anyone else find it unexpectedly emotional? I'm curious what other people thought of the characters and their stories! Also, is it just me, or did anyone else have a slight issue with the ending feeling a little too convenient? Like, everything just magically works out in the last five minutes? Still fun, though!
