Okay, Hear Me Out: Hercules in New York, a Godawful Masterpiece?

Alright, so I just finished watching "Hercules in New York." Yeah, *that* one. The one where Arnold looks like he's actively regretting every single life choice that led him to that point. I went in expecting a train wreck, and honestly, it delivered in spades. But… here's my theory. I think, maybe, just maybe, the sheer incompetence of this film *elevates* it to something more. Think about it. The director is *literally* unknown. Like, no one wants to claim this thing! The dialogue is wooden, the special effects are... well, there *aren't* any. But that's the point! It's so bad, it's hilarious. Remember that scene where Hercules fights the bear in Central Park? It's clearly someone in a cheap costume, and Arnold's "acting" is just shouting and waving his arms. But the absurdity is what makes it stick with you. It's almost like a performance art piece, a commentary on the limitations of filmmaking in the early 70s, but accidentally? And honestly, doesn't the whole premise kind of work as a metaphor for being a stranger in a strange land? Hercules is completely bewildered by New York. He doesn't understand our customs, our technology, or our, uh, organized crime. His literal fish-out-of-water performance inadvertently reflects the experiences of immigrants and outsiders trying to navigate a world they don't understand. Okay, that might be pushing it, but I'm sticking with that. Maybe this movie transcends its badness to become a weird reflection of the human condition, lol. So, yeah--I'm not saying it's GOOD. I'm super not saying that. But I am saying that there's something oddly compelling about a movie that fails so spectacularly. It's a fascinating experiment in bad filmmaking, and I kind of love it for that. What do you guys think? Am I crazy, or is there something... *there* there?
