Ready Player One - Still Slaps, Right?! (But...)

Okay, so I just re-watched Ready Player One last night and, like, my inner child was FREAKING out! All the Easter eggs and retro vibes? Spielberg totally nailed the visual overload, you know? The whole premise is just so cool - escaping into a virtual world when the real one sucks. I was especially hyped during the Aech's workshop scene; so cool to see everything he was building. But here's the thing, and maybe it's just me getting old LOL, but does anyone else think the plot gets kinda... messy? Like, the whole love story between Parzival and Art3mis felt a little forced, right? And Halliday's backstory, while touching, almost veers into cliche territory? Also, I could get over the CGI characters, but they got on my nerves after a while! I'm still super down with the action and the overall message about connecting with the real world and whatnot. The dance scene at the Distracted Globe was pretty sweet. But am I the only one who feels like it could've been... tighter? Better written, maybe? There's something about it that feels like it almost reaches full potential, but doesn't quite get there. It's SO MUCH FUN but it's also kinda flawed. So what do y'all think? Am I being too critical or do you see it too? What would you change about the movie if you could, besides, yknow, making it three hours long to cram in even MORE references from the book? Gimme your thoughts!
