Liam Neeson in "The Marksman" - Fashionably Rugged?
Okay, so I just watched "The Marksman" and while the plot was...decent (classic Liam Neeson protecting someone, right?), I was actually paying a lot of attention to the costuming, or lack thereof, LOL. I mean, it's mostly just practical clothing, but even practical clothing can tell a story, right? Jim Hanson's (Liam Neeson) whole look is VERY "lives a hard life on the border." Lots of denim, faded flannels, that worn leather jacket... it all screams 'resourceful' and 'doesn't care about appearances.' It totally sells the character before he even says a word. Obviously, the clothes weren't 'fashion forward,' but that was the point! I did notice the stark contrast when the cartel guys showed up. Their clothing, while not exactly flashy either, was clearly newer, more expensive looking. It just highlighted the difference in their motivations and lifestyles. Even the little boy, Miguel, his clothes were simple, but showed he was cared for before all the bad stuff started. They weren't ragged or anything until, well...things got real. The most interesting (and probably unintentional) fashion moment was Liam Neeson's character after basically adopting Miguel! He hadn't changed clothes the whole freaking movie, probably for days, but I still thought he looked cute! Maybe it's just Liam Neeson, LOL. Overall, I wouldn't say the costumes were groundbreaking or anything, but they really did contribute to the authentic feel of the film. Anyone else notice anything interesting costume-wise?
