Snake Eyes Origins - Is Storm Shadow ACTUALLY the bad guy?
Okay, so I just finished watching Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, and I gotta say, it was...interesting. I went in blind, knowing basically nothing about G.I. Joe other than they fight Cobra. And honestly, I thought it was a pretty solid action flick, some cool ninja stuff. But something's been bugging me since the end. Hear me out. Everyone's treating Storm Shadow like he went full-on dark side, betrayed the clan, and is now #evil. But what if he's actually playing the long game? Think about it: his whole deal is protecting the Arashikage and upholding tradition. He saw Snake Eyes as a threat, someone untrustworthy (which, let's be real, Snake Eyes was kinda shady at first). What if Storm Shadow was actually trying to expose Cobra's influence from within, and the 'betrayal' was a calculated move to infiltrate them? I'm specifically thinking about the scene where he "kills" his uncle. It seemed almost...staged? Like maybe they had an understanding. Plus, he could have easily killed Snake Eyes multiple times but didn't. He just kept trying to push him away. Maybe he was trying to force Snake Eyes' hand, or test his loyalty to the clan? IDK, it just feels like there's more to it than a simple turn to evil. I know it's a longshot, and maybe I'm giving the writers too much credit, but I'm really hoping they explore this in a sequel. I'd hate to see Storm Shadow just become another generic villain. What do you guys think? Am I reaching, or is there some merit to this theory?
