Blood Red Sky: Airplane Thriller...With a Twist!
Okay, so last night me and the girls watched Blood Red Sky on Netflix, and WOW. Going in, I didn't know too much other than it was a plane hijacking movie. Standard action fare, right? WRONG. Like, SO wrong. The 'twist' is that the mom, Nadja, isn't just a badass, she's basically a vampire (but not sparkly, thank god!). She's trying to protect her son, Elias, who is seriously the most adorable kid ever, BTW. The whole vibe is super intense from the start, you know something's going down. The initial takedown of the plane was pretty brutal, I actually jumped a couple times. But when Nadja really lets loose? Game changer. I was cringing through some of it, it's not for the faint of heart. The makeup effects are REALLY good, especially how they showed her changing. I loved the flashback scenes that explained her condition, but honestly, sometimes the pacing felt a bit off. Like, we'd be in super intense action, then bam, slow flashback. I think they could've balanced that better. My biggest problem was probably Berg – the main terrorist guy. I just didn't find him all that compelling, you know? Like, his motivations felt kind of generic. But I did like the other terrorist, Eightball (so weird, I know!). He was genuinely creepy and unhinged. Elias, the son, really grounds the movie. When you see the lengths Nadja will go to protect him, you're automatically invested. I think the ending was a bit predictable, but overall, it was a pretty solid watch. Definitely worth it if you're looking for something different from your usual action flick, and don't mind a little (or a lot) of blood! Has anyone else seen it? What did you all think about the ending? Was that the only way it could've ended for Nadja and Elias?
