"Prey" - Okay, I think I'm a Predator convert now?
Alright, so I've been trying to branch out from my usual stuff and dive into some classics I've shamefully missed. Last night I caved and watched "Prey" after seeing it recommended everywhere. I know it's a prequel to Predator, but honestly, I'd never seen any of those movies either. I went in totally blind. I was super impressed! The whole Comanche setting was just chef's kiss. I really got invested in Naru's journey to prove herself, and honestly, the fight choreography was insane. That mud scene? Brutal. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. My heart was racing when she had to use her own medician knowledge to heal then track. I was surprised when the animal was a bear, but then was even more shocked for it to be the Predator itself! Speaking of, the Predator was terrifying! Like, way scarier than I was expecting. I kinda thought space alien hunter would be corny, but it actually worked really well. And the practical effects were awesome, especially the mask. I know some people complained about how "easy" it was for Naru to beat him, but I actually think it paid off. She outsmarted him the whole time, using his own traps against him, and her quick thinking won in the end. So yeah, I guess I'm officially a Predator newbie now. Anyone have recommendations for which one to watch next? Is the original with Arnold worth it? Let me know!
