Dinosaurs, Daring Do's, and Did Owen Get a New Vest?
Okay, so I just saw Jurassic World Dominion, and…whew. Lots of dinosaur action, which is honestly what I signed up for. But, as always, my brain was also on FASHION. Gotta say, I was a little underwhelmed overall. Like, dinosaurs running around should have inspired something, right? Claire Dearing's (Bryce Dallas Howard) whole utilitarian look is fine, I guess. Practical for saving dinos, but not exactly groundbreaking. I did notice she had some great earth tone color choices and like the overall athleisure vibe. More interesting to me was Owen Grady (Chris Pratt). Did anyone else clock his vest collection upgrade? Seemed like a few new additions to the wardrobe, haha. And I did like his rugged outdoors-man style, it worked for the setting. Oh, and honorable mention to Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon), her outfit in the Malta sequence was actually cute! Kind of a rebellious teen vibe, but still put-together. But seriously, with the Giga and all the prehistoric creatures running amok it would have been nice to see some of the extras with more inventive looks? Think post-apocalyptic meets safari chic! Someone get a stylist on set for the next one! I also think more of the characters needed to get scuffed up. I'm not saying I'm a sadist, but they all seemed a little too clean considering they were running from velociraptors most of the time. It would have given them more credibility in my opinion. I wonder if this was an intentional direction from the director, it's hard to say but I think about it. Overall, the movie was an entertaining ride, but the fashion… well, let's just say the dinosaurs were way more memorable. Give me some dinosaur-scale accessories next time, please!
