Okay, 'The Menu' just RUINED fine dining for me 😭

Okay, so I just saw 'The Menu' (2022) and... wow. Just wow. I'm still feeling all sorts of messed up. Like, I went in expecting a dark comedy thriller, and I GOT that, but it was also so much more emotionally impactful than I thought it would be? Anya Taylor-Joy is amazing, obviously, but Ralph Fiennes? Guys, his Chef Slowik was terrifyingly sad. The way he talked about passion and purpose just broke my heart a little. Especially the scene where he's just smoking and listening to music? So good. And Nicholas Hoult as the foodie Tyler... ugh, I wanted to punch him in the face the whole time! He was the embodiment of everything that's wrong with pretentious food culture. Honestly, the whole movie felt like a huge middle finger to that world, which, as someone who enjoys a good meal but hates the snobbery, I appreciated. Seriously, that bread plate scene? Chef's kiss. But it's not just about making fun of rich people being ridiculous. It's about feeling trapped, feeling disillusioned, and the pressure to create something meaningful. Heavy stuff! That ending though... damn. I won't spoil it, but the cheeseburger? It got me. Like, full-on tears. It was like a symbol of going back to basics, of finding joy in something simple. It really hit hard after all the tension and twistedness. I even questioned my own career, if I'm happy with what I'm doing. And the whole time I was just gripping my chair! Honestly, it's a movie that's gonna stay with me for a while. Probably gonna make me think twice before ordering the tasting menu next time, lol. But seriously, go see it if you're into dark humor with a side of existential dread. 😅 Just maybe grab a burger afterwards to ground yourself, you know?
