Sonic 2: Robotnik's Mustache Ride & Other Burning Q's
Okay, so I just finished Sonic 2 (yeah, I'm a little late to the party, sue me). Overall, it was... fine? Like, definitely more entertaining than I thought it'd be, honestly. I mean, Robotnik's mustache alone deserves an Oscar, am I right? Carrey was clearly having a BLAST and it made the whole thing way more watchable. But here's what's bugging me: Knuckles. I understand he's supposed to be, like, the big strong silent type, but did they have to make him that gullible? I mean, Robotnik basically sweet-talked him into betraying Sonic! Was his whole backstory just about being easily manipulated? I feel like they kinda did my man dirty... or maybe I'm just too attached to the Sonic Adventure 2 version of him (that game still slaps, btw). And another thing, that whole dance-off scene in the Siberian bar? I know it was trying to be funny, but it felt kinda... forced? Like, "Look, we're being relatable to the youths! Look at us use pop music!" Did anyone else feel like they were trying a little too hard there? Or am I just getting too old for this hedgehog business? So yeah, Sonic 2. Pretty good for what it is, but definitely some questionable choices were made. What did you guys think? Was Knuckles' naivete a plot hole, or am I overthinking it? And be honest, did you cringe during the dance-off too?
