Morbius... Let's Talk About the Acting Choices

Okay, so I finally braved Morbius. I went in honestly wanting to like it, I really did. I think Jared Leto gets a lot of unfair flack sometimes. But I left feeling...confused? Ignoring the plot holes that could swallow planets, I'm mostly stuck on the acting choices. Like, Leto, I know he's capable of giving compelling performances. But was it just me, or was the whole 'intense stare, whispered delivery, then abrupt scream' thing really repetitive? It felt less like a character arc and more like a loop of the same three emotional notes. I'm curious if others felt this wasn't his best. The whole thing felt kind of flat and I am unsure if that is because of the script or the actor's choices. And Matt Smith! He’s usually magnetic, but here? It felt like he was told to just be...energetic and vaguely menacing, and that was it. Did anyone else feel that the chemistry between Leto and him was forced? There was this weird push-pull where you could tell they wanted to be conflicted friends/enemies, but it never really landed. So, am I totally off base here? What moments did you find particularly well-acted, or... not so much? What are your thoughts? Don't be too harsh, I am fairly new to these forums.
