Okay, so...The Lost City? More like The Lost Opportunity?

Alright horror fiends, JessMovienEerd here back with… well, not a horror movie this time, sorry! I actually watched 'The Lost City' (the Sandra Bullock/Channing Tatum one) last night because I needed a palate cleanser after binging Argento films all week, lol. Honestly? I went in expecting a fun, dumb romp, and I kinda got it. Sandra Bullock is always gold, but I feel like the script didn't give her enough dark humor to really chew on, y'know? Like, they touched on the reclusive author thing but never really went there. Channing Tatum was surprisingly hilarious as the himbo cover model. That scene where he's trying to cut the ropes binding her hands with that tiny Swiss Army knife? Pure comedy. And seeing him get leeches ALL OVER was seriously great (even if it wasn't horror, it was kinda gross!). Daniel Radcliffe was...fine as the villain. He felt pretty one-note, though. I kinda wish he'd leaned into the maniacal billionaire thing more. Just my opinion. Overall, it was...okay. Perfectly watchable on a lazy afternoon when you don't want to think too hard. It wasn't bad, per se, but it definitely wasn't groundbreaking. I feel like they could have pushed the satire harder, or even thrown in a tiny bit of horror element with the jungle setting! I give it a solid 'meh' with a side of 'Channing Tatum's abs'. Anyone else seen it? What did YOU think?
