OMG! Scream (2022) - GHOSTFACE IS BACK, BABY!
Okay, so I just saw Scream (2022) and, like, I'm still processing everything! First off, as a HUGE Scream fan (obvi, username checks out!), I was kinda nervous going in. Reboot? Legacy sequel? Could've been a total train wreck. But honestly? I think they NAILED it. It's meta, it's gory (duh!), and it actually kept me guessing, which is saying something considering how many horror movies I've seen. I loved the new cast! Sam (Melissa Barrera) was a badass final girl, and Tara (Jenna Ortega) already deserves legend status after that opening scene. Seriously, my heart was pounding! And the OG crew? Seeing Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette back together was just...chef's kiss. Dewey's arc in particular really got to me. No spoilers, but be prepared to feel some things, okay?? There were a couple moments that felt a little forced, maybe? Like, the 'rules' of surviving a horror movie felt a bit TOO on-the-nose sometimes. But honestly, it's Scream, so a little self-awareness is part of the charm, right? Plus, the kills were brutal and creative, and the Ghostface voice was creepier than ever. Overall, I give it a solid 8/10. It's a worthy addition to the Scream franchise and a great slasher flick on its own. Definitely worth checking out if you're a horror fan, especially if you grew up with the original like I did. Did anyone else catch all the easter eggs? Let's discuss! I have thoughts. So. Many. Thoughts.
