Babylon: Okay, the Excess Was Excessive (but the costumes!!)

Okay, so I finally saw Babylon. Whew. That was… a lot. I'm still processing. Honestly, the plot was a bit all over the place, but as SophiaOnFilm, fashion is always my first love. And the costumes? Absolutely insane! Ruth E. Carter DID NOT disappoint. Seriously considering trying to recreate Nellie LaRoy's everything. Margot Robbie, obviously, looked amazing, but the way they used costuming to chart her character's trajectory was just chef's kiss. From that incredibly beaded, fringed slip dress (you KNOW the one) that practically screamed 'new money' to the (slightly less glamorous, but still amazing) looks later in the film as things went south – it told a story all on its own. And Diego Calva? Those tailored suits? Ugh. I need to find a man who can rock a pinstripe like that. Even Brad Pitt, who always looks good, had some seriously killer looks. I think my favorite costume moment was honestly just the sheer volume of extras and how each and every one was flawlessly dressed. The attention to detail was incredible. It really sold the whole 'wild west' early Hollywood vibe they were going for. It wasn't just pretty clothes; it was character building. And while the movie itself was... divisive, I think the costuming is pretty much universally acknowledged as peak. Definitely going to be re-watching just to pause and obsess over the details I missed the first time. Anyone else feel the same? What were your fave looks?
