Through My Window: Ares' Whole Problem? It's NOT Raquel (hear me out!)

Okay, so I just finished "Through My Window" and I'm officially trash for this super cheesy movie, lol. But something's been bugging me. Everyone's saying Ares is just a jerk, playing Raquel, but what if his real problem is his family? Like, think about it - his dad is ALWAYS breathing down his neck to be this perfect heir, go to business school, etc. He's got, like, zero room to just BE a normal dude. Remember when he's talking to Raquel about how he's leaving for Stockholm (insert crying emoji here)? He's practically begging her to understand that he HAS to go, it's not really a choice. And later, when his dad is all angry at him for being with Raquel? It seemed like he was more afraid of disappointing his family than of actually hurting her. I actually felt bad for him for a second! My theory is that Ares is so messed up because of the pressure. He can't be honest with Raquel, or himself, because he's terrified of what his dad will do if he doesn't follow the "family plan." Honestly, Raquels prolly the only real thing in his life, which is why he can't stay away from her even when he knows he should. I still think he acted like a total bonehead at times, don't get me wrong, but I think pinning all the blame solely on him misses the bigger picture. Thoughts? Am I totally off base here? Spill the tea!
