Okay, I Watched "Don't Worry Darling" - Let's Talk!
Alright, so I finally caved and watched "Don't Worry Darling." I know, I know, the whole behind-the-scenes drama was like, everywhere. But I tried to go in unbiased! TBH, plot-wise, it was kinda interesting. The whole retro-futuristic vibe of Victory was super cool, and Florence Pugh KILLS it as Alice. Seriously, she's amazing at portraying that slow burn of realizing everything isn't what it seems. That scene where she's crushing potatoes and starts freaking out? Chills. Literal chills. But, and this is a big but, the movie felt...unfinished somehow? Like it had so much potential but didn't quite stick the landing. There were definitely some pacing issues, especially in the middle. And Harry Styles? Look, I love his music, but acting-wise, he wasn't exactly blowing me away. He was fine, but against Pugh's performance, the difference was pretty obvious. I also feel like some of the symbolism was a little heavy-handed, you know? Like, we get it, things aren't great, you don't have to spell it out quite so much. I think the concept behind Victory and the Victory Project was where the movie shines. It's pretty darn creepy, and the questions it raises about control, gender roles, and the supposed 'perfect' life were definitely thought-provoking. That dance scene with all the synchronized ladies was disturbing af. Seriously, who thought that was a good idea?? It left me with more questions than answers, for sure. So, overall? I'd say it's worth a watch if you're into psychological thrillers and mind-bending plots. But go in with tempered expectations. It's not gonna change your life, but it's a decent watch to dissect and discuss. What did you guys think? Am I being too harsh? Let me know!
