Triangle of Sadness: More than just influencer bait, thankfully!

Okay, so I finally saw "Triangle of Sadness" and whew, it was...a lot. I went in expecting something visually appealing (because, duh, models) but was honestly surprised by how much it made me think. The first part, with Carl and Yaya arguing about the bill? So relatable, even if my dates aren't usually that conventionally gorgeous, haha. I was immediately side-eyeing him -- hello, equality goes both ways, dude! But beyond the surface level, seeing how ridiculously transactional their relationship was set the stage for everything that followed. The cruise section was where things got REALLY interesting, fashion-wise. You could tell so much about these characters just from what they were wearing. Like, the Russian fertilizer king's wife in her blindingly expensive, but ultimately tasteless, outfits? Total caricature of 'old money' trying too hard. And then Abigail's transformation at the end? Chef's kiss! The way she subtly appropriated Yaya's clothes and accessories as she gained power was just chef’s kiss. The whole cruise ship sequence was so over the top I kept cringing but also laughing. And Woody Harrelson as the captain? Amazing casting. His character's slovenly appearance was a striking contrast to the ultra-glamorous passengers. I really appreciated that the film didn't shy away from the grotesque – the seasickness scene was truly disturbing (and kinda hilarious, I'll admit). I'm still not sure I loved the ending, I kinda hated them all by that point, but I thought it was pretty clever. Ultimately, "Triangle of Sadness" is a pretty great satire, and I definitely recommend it if you're looking for something that's both visually stimulating and thought-provoking. Plus, you get to see some seriously questionable fashion choices from the ultra-rich, which is always a treat, hehe. Just maybe don't eat too much before watching it – that puke scene is NOT for the faint of heart!
