Sisu: Okay, WHO Hurt This Old Man!?

Okay, so I just finished watching Sisu. No idea who directed it, didn't even bother looking it up beforehand, just saw it on Shudder and thought, "Finnish John Wick vs. Nazis? Why the hell not?" And man...it DELIVERED. Like, seriously, who hurt Aatami Korpi so badly that he became this one-man wrecking crew? The dude is practically immortal. There were so many moments where I was just yelling at the screen. Like, the entire plane sequence? Chef's kiss. The dog surviving EVERYTHING? GIVE THAT DOG AN OSCAR. And the way he just keeps finding more gold? It's almost comical, but in the best way. Also, the Nazi officer Bruno (or was it Berger? Something like that), was perfectly hateable. Like, you just knew he was gonna get what was coming to him, and the anticipation was half the fun. It's not exactly high art, lets be real. The story is simple, the characters are pretty archetypal, and the gore is, shall we say, abundant. But sometimes you just want to watch a nearly silent, grizzled badass brutally murder Nazis for 90 minutes, you know? No deep thinking required, just pure, unadulterated action. Honestly, if you're looking for something to watch late at night when your brain is already half-melted, and you've got a soft spot for cathartic violence, Sisu is definitely worth checking out. Just maybe don't eat anything beforehand, unless you have a really strong stomach.
