Hocus Pocus 2: Okay, but Let's Talk About the Fits!
Okay, so I finally got around to watching Hocus Pocus 2, and honestly? It was cute. Nostalgia definitely carried it, but I had fun. But as always, my brain was 80% focused on the COSTUMES! Like, the Sanderson sisters' outfits are iconic, obviously, but I was really digging the modern witchy vibes the three main girls were serving, especially Becca (Whitney Peak). Her whole layered, dark academia meets mystical vibe? Chef's kiss. I'm already planning on recreating some of those looks for fall. And can we talk about the Sandersons' updated looks? They stay true to the original silhouettes, but there's definitely a gleam-up. Winifred's (Bette Midler) especially felt more... regal? Maybe it was the slightly richer fabrics or the more precise tailoring. It's subtle but it's there, and it makes a difference. Mary's (Kathy Najimy) crooked smile is still her best accessory though, hands down lol. The scene where they're at the Walgreens (or whatever that drugstore was) was hilarious, but also a prime example of costume juxtaposition. The sisters in their full get-ups just contrasted so perfectly with the modern, everyday clothes of everyone else. Speaking of which, I wonder who decided on the worker's, like, piratey-adjacent outfit? Was that a company thing, or was that a personal choice? Either way, I would've styled that character completely differently... Overall, the movie's fun and fluffy, and while the plot might be a little predictable, the costumes definitely added another layer of enjoyability for me. Anyone else have a fave outfit from the film? Or a moment where the costuming really stood out to them?
