Hocus Pocus 2 - Nostalgia Overload!
Okay, so I finally watched Hocus Pocus 2 last night with Sarah and Ben, and OMG, nostalgia hit hard! I was a little nervous going in, because sequels can be so disappointing, but I actually had a pretty good time. The Sanderson sisters are still hilarious, and Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker just nailed it again. Like, they haven't missed a beat. I think my favorite part was when they were trying to figure out modern technology, especially the whole Roomba scene, haha! It felt like classic Hocus Pocus shenanigans. I do think the new characters were... okay. I liked Becca (Whitney Peak), and her friends Cassie (Lilia Buckingham) and Izzy (Belissa Escobedo) were good too. But they didn't quite have the same charm as Max, Dani, and Allison from the original. I also kinda missed Thackery Binx, even though I knew he wouldn't be back back. I felt like the plot was a litle bit predictable. The whole 'Sanderson sisters want to be powerful witches' thing is getting old. But, honestly, I wasn't watching for a complex storyline. I just wanted some spooky fun, and it delivered on that front. Also, anyone else think Sam Richardson was totally wasted? He's hilarious, and I wish they'd given him more to do than just be the bookstore owner. What was up with that? Anyways, overall, I'd say if you loved the first Hocus Pocus, give this one a watch. It's not perfect, but it's a fun, lighthearted Halloween flick that'll make you feel like a kid again. The ending was kinda sweet too, not gonna lie, teared up a little! So, what did everyone else think? Did it live up to your expectations, or were you disappointed? Spill the tea!
