Beast (2022) - Okay, the CGI lion was sometimes... obvious, but the sound design tho!

Okay, just saw Beast with Idris Elba, and look, the plot is pretty straightforward - giant rogue lion, family in danger, you get the drill. But I gotta give it up for the sound design team on this one. Seriously cranked my home theatre system and it was intense. The lion's roars, mixed with the ambiance of the African bush... chefs kiss. I was practically jumping out of my seat. Anyone else notice specific sound details that stood out? I thought the scene where they're trapped in the car and you hear the lion circling was particularly well done. The subtle growls and scratches against the metal were super unnerving. Visually, the movie had its moments, but the CGI on the lion definitely dipped into uncanny valley territory a few times. Like, there's this one shot when it's lunging at the truck and the fur just looks... off. What do we think? Did the sound design elevate the movie beyond its slightly underwhelming visual effects? And speaking of the visual effects, were some of the blood effects a bit too 'video gamey' for anyone else? Like, they almost took me out of the suspense at points. But overall, I enjoyed it as a creature feature with a surprisingly solid soundscape. Maybe I'm just a sucker for good audio mixing, haha. What are your thoughts?
