Okay, "The Sea Beast" actually slapped harder than I expected!
So, I finally got around to watching "The Sea Beast" (yeah, I know, I'm late to the party). I went in expecting, like, a cute kids' movie with some big monsters. Which, yeah, it IS a kids' movie, but man, it had some surprisingly dark undertones and genuinely thrilling moments! I was legit on the edge of my seat during some of the sea battles - that scene with the Leviathan attacking the Inevitable? Forget about it! My palms were sweating. Maisie, the little stowaway, was definitely the heart of the film. Her unwavering belief that maybe the monsters aren't all evil really resonated, and the way she challenged Captain Crow's ingrained hatred? Chef's kiss. Plus, I gotta say, the animation was top-notch. The sea monsters were terrifyingly beautiful, and the way they moved felt so realistic. Red, the giant red sea beast they meet, was totally awesome. Okay, maybe a little cheesy at times, but I'm a sucker for a good redemption arc, and this delivered. Okay, the ending got a little predictable, I'll admit. But overall? "The Sea Beast" was a fantastic watch. It's got adventure, heart, and some genuinely impressive monster design. It's one of those movies that's perfect for the whole family... Even if your grown-up horror-loving self ends up enjoying it way more than you thought you would. I'm giving it a solid 8/10. Anyone else see this? What'd you think? Was I the only one who got major "How to Train Your Dragon" vibes?
