Okay, "Suzume" was WEIRD (but I kinda loved it?)

Alright, rom-com lovers, I took a detour from my usual fare and watched "Suzume"… and wow. I wasn't expecting THAT. Giant magic worm? Talking chair? I feel like I need a lie down. Seriously, the talking chair was strangely endearing. Like, I get it, sometimes you just wanna be a comfy piece of furniture, you know? The animation was STUNNING though, especially during the earthquake scenes – really conveyed the scale of the disaster. Suzume herself was a great protagonist. I loved her determination and how she just kept going even when things got super crazy. And Souta... okay, I'm a sucker for a brooding, mysterious guy, even if he IS a chair for most of the movie. The scene where Suzume is carrying him around, honestly, hilarious and cute at the same time. Though, let’s be real, the romantic tension was… interesting, considering. Anyone else get a Beauty and the Beast vibe? I definitely wouldn't call it a straight-up rom-com, it's way more of a fantasy adventure with a touch of romance sprinkled in. It’s heavy on the metaphor, too, about loss and healing, which I totally appreciated. The ending was a little... abrupt? I wanted just a few more minutes to see where things went after that big climax. Overall, I'd recommend it if you're looking for something different. Just be prepared to suspend your disbelief and maybe have a comfy chair nearby. What did everyone else think? Was the chair thing too much, or just the right amount of bonkers?
