Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022): Yikes, Not Family Movie Night Material!
Okay, so I watched the new 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' last night after the kids were FINALLY asleep. Let me just say, definitely not one to pop on during family movie night! I know, I know, duh, Amanda, but sometimes you gotta confirm the obvious, right? I was kinda curious because I remember being TERRIFIED of the original way back when. This one... well, it's definitely bloody. Like REALLY bloody. I think I actually said "Ew!" out loud a few times. The plot is pretty much what you'd expect: some young influencers go to Texas to revitalize a ghost town, and accidentally wake up Leatherface. Honestly, I found the influencers pretty annoying. Like, the whole 'virtue signaling' thing felt forced? I get what they were going for, but it just didn't quite land. The chainsaw scenes are brutal, obviously. There's this one scene on the bus that… ugh, let's just say I won't be taking public transport anytime soon. The Sally Hardesty cameo was… strange. I kinda wish they'd left her out of it, honestly. It felt a bit disrespectful to the original, somehow? I'm not sure who this movie is for, exactly. Maybe if you're really into gore and don't need a super-complex story? It's not BAD, per se, but it's also not great. It's...forgettable? I think I preferred the original's gritty, unsettling vibe. This one was just trying too hard to be shocking. Anyway, anyone else see it? What did you think? Am I just getting old and squeamish? LOL!
