OMG TÁR tho... WTF did I just watch?!
Okay, so I just got out of 'TÁR' and my brain is legit scrambled eggs right now. Like, what even WAS that? I went in blind, not even bothering to look up the director (some dude I've never heard of tbh) and all I knew was it was about a conductor. Cate Blanchett is ALWAYS a queen so I figured, what the heck? And WOW. She freaking KILLED it. Like, Oscar-worthy, no joke. That opening interview scene? Insane. The way she just commands the screen, even when she's just THINKING? Chills. But the whole movie is just... uncomfortable. In a good way? I mean, you're constantly on edge, waiting for her to implode. The whole Krista storyline was super creepy and I lowkey think they could've explored that even more. I was screaming at my screen when she was practicing the Goldberg Variations, talk about high pressure. The performances were all amazing, but Blanchett is just a force of nature. Honestly, I still don't even know if I LIKED it liked it. It's one of those movies that sticks with you, ya know? Like, I keep replaying scenes in my head and trying to figure out what it all MEANS. Is it a commentary on power? Cancel culture? The pressures of being a woman in a male-dominated field? All of the above? I think its all of the above and I like that it doesn't give you easy answers. Definitely gonna need to re-watch it to unpack everything but yeah, go see it! It's worth the mental anguish, trust me. My only real question is...was that ending real?? I'm so confused LOL. Someone explain.
