Meg 2: Okay, I Actually Had Fun (But Let's Talk About That Ending)
Alright, so I just got back from seeing Meg 2: The Trench, and honestly? It was way more entertaining than I expected. I went in with low expectations after mixed things I heard, but I walked out grinning like an idiot. Was it good good? Debatable. Was it ridiculously fun? Absolutely. Jason Statham punching a Meg in the face? Iconic. The whole exploding volcano sequence felt straight out of a fever dream, and I mean that in the best way possible. Like, who signed off on that?! Kudos to them. I'm already planning a rewatch. But okay, let's be real. The plot was…thin. Like, thinner than the oxygen supply down in the trench. And some of the CGI was distractingly bad, especially on some of the smaller prehistoric creatures. I was also kind of bummed that we didn't get more of the actual trench exploration. It felt like they rushed through it to get to the action, which, fine, I get it, giant sharks equal box office. But still! I'm a sucker for the deep sea stuff. What really got me though, was that ending. Without giving too much away, it felt super abrupt. Like they ran out of money and just slapped something together. Did anyone else feel that way? It just felt like a bunch of plot threads were kinda left dangling. I'm hoping they're setting up for a Meg 3 (please let there be a Meg 3!), but even then, the resolution felt a little…unfinished. Overall, I'd say if you're looking for a serious, scientifically accurate shark movie, this ain't it. But if you want to turn your brain off for a couple of hours and watch Jason Statham fight giant prehistoric creatures in increasingly ridiculous ways, then definitely check it out. Just… prepare yourself for that ending, lol. Let me know what you guys thought!
