"The Creator" - More Than Just Sci-Fi Eye Candy?

Okay, so I just saw "The Creator" and...wow. Visually, it's STUNNING. Like genuinely breathtaking landscapes and robot designs. I'm a sucker for good world-building, and this felt so lived-in and real, even though it's based in a future war between humans and AI. But I'm left with a nagging question: did the story match the visuals? Specifically, the whole thing with Joshua (the main character) and Alphie (the AI child) felt like a sci-fi rehash of a dozen other films. Grieving soldier bonds with the thing he's supposed to destroy...yawn, been there done that. The emotional beats felt a little forced, especially during some of Alphie's 'cute' moments. I'm not saying it was BAD, but did anyone else feel like the plot was a little too predictable, despite the cool setting? I wanted it to subvert my expectations more, you know? And the ending...without giving away spoilers, it felt a bit rushed and convenient. Did they just run out of budget or ideas? I was fully expecting some major twist, some complex moral dilemma that would really make me think, but instead, it kind of just wrapped up neatly. Maybe I'm being too harsh, because like I said, the visuals are incredible. But I keep thinking about similar movies like "District 9" or even parts of "Blade Runner 2049" that managed to be visually stunning AND have genuinely thought-provoking stories. "The Creator" felt like it was missing that extra layer. So, what did you all think? Am I being too critical? Did the visuals carry the slightly predictable plot, or did you feel like the story fell short of its potential like I did? Let's discuss!
