Okay, "The Pope's Exorcist" - Conspiracy Theory Time!
Alright, so I just watched "The Pope's Exorcist" with the gang last night, and while it was your typical 'jump scare' thing, I'm kinda stuck on the ending. Like, that whole 'the Vatican knew about this demon all along' thing? It felt so rushed but also...plausible? My theory is that the Vatican is way more involved than they let on. Amorth even says himself that the church has been trying to hide this thing for centuries, but whyyyyy? Specifically, I'm thinking about how quickly they tried to shut down Amorth's investigation, especially by sending Father Esquibel to ‘help’ when really, he was probably meant to babysit Amorth. What if that whole 'Spanish Inquisition' connection wasn't just a plot device but a hint that the church itself was involved in summoning/controlling the demon in the first place? Imagine, they used it for political power or something back then, and now it's resurfacing. I also have this weird feeling about Julia (the mom). Remember how she had that whole freak-out moment in the chapel? When she said she'd do anything to find a 'savior' for her son. What if she unknowingly, or even knowingly, made a deal with someone, or something that led to Henry being possessed? Maybe a local cult or someone involved with the Vatican covering up the demon stuff? Too crazy? Idk, maybe it's just the popcorn and late night talking, but I can't shake the feeling that there's more to the story and that the Vatican isn't just trying to hide the demon, but somehow caused its re-emergence. What do you guys think? Hit me with your theories! Did I miss anything important?
