Knock at the Cabin - Whoa, That Was Intense!
Okay, so I just finished watching Knock at the Cabin, and... wow. I went in totally blind, didn’t even know who directed it. All I knew was the basic premise - family in a cabin, end of the world, tough choice. And man, it delivered on the intensity. Like, from the very first scene with Dave Bautista (who, by the way, was surprisingly amazing in a role that wasn't pure action) approaching the little girl, Wen, I was on edge. The whole 'doomsday cult' vibe was really well done. The other four 'invaders' weren't just your stereotypical baddies; they all seemed genuinely broken up about what they were doing. That inner conflict made it way more disturbing. I gotta say, the scenes of the plagues were pretty effective without being overly graphic, which I appreciated. The acting across the board was solid, especially the dads, Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge. Their desperation and love for Wen was palpable. I admit, the ending kind of threw me. I'm still not sure how I feel about the 'choice' actually working. It felt a little too...neat? I spent the whole movie thinking there HAS to be a twist, some kind of explanation that doesn't involve the actual apocalypse. But nope, they went there. Makes you think about faith and sacrifice, which I guess is the point, but still. Anyone else feel like they wanted some more ambiguity? Overall, I'd say it's a solid thriller that kept me glued to the screen. Not sure if it's something I'd watch again immediately, but definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something thought-provoking and stressful, lol. What did you guys think? Did the ending work for you?
