Godzilla Minus One - Okay, but what DOES it MEAN for Koichi?

Guys, I just got back from seeing Godzilla Minus One and… wow. The effects were insane, obviously! But I'm here for the ✨performances✨ and I'm kinda obsessed with Kamiki Ryunosuke as Koichi Shikishima. Like, the dude is HAUNTED. That scene where he freezes up during the kamikaze mission? Gut-wrenching. And later, when he's trying to build a life with Noriko and Akiko, you can just FEEL the PTSD radiating off him. But here's my question, and maybe it's because I'm not super steeped in Godzilla lore, but what do you think the movie is really saying about survivor's guilt and finding redemption? Like, yeah, Godzilla is a stand-in for the horrors of war and the atomic bomb... but Koichi's arc feels so much more personal. Do you think he truly overcomes his past, or will he always be carrying that weight? That final shot... kinda gives me hope, but also makes me wonder if it's too good to be true. And then there's Noriko! Minami Hamabe was phenomenal. She brings this quiet strength to the role, like she's building something beautiful out of the ashes. Their relationship felt earned, despite the somewhat abruptness of it all. I feel like the film really showed how trauma and love can intertwine and create a complicated relationship. But did anyone else think her story kinda got sidelined in the last act when the focus shifted fully to Godzilla-fighting? I feel like I needed more of her pov in the end. Anyway, I'm rambling now. I just NEED to discuss this with someone! What are your thoughts on Koichi's journey and the movie's deeper themes? What did you think about the acting overall?
