Ghosted: Undercover Disappointment or Just Plain Bad?
Alright, folks, just got out of Ghosted. And, well, I'm left scratching my head. I went in expecting a fun action-rom-com, something breezy, maybe a little dumb, but ultimately enjoyable. What I got felt... stitched together from spare parts of better movies? Like, the premise itself – average guy chasing after a CIA agent – has potential for interesting character dynamics, right? But the execution felt so incredibly flat. Specifically, I'm wondering about the tonal whiplash. One minute it's supposed to be a meet-cute, the next it's exploding buildings and Chris Evans trying (and mostly failing) to look genuinely terrified. And Ana de Armas is usually so reliably compelling, but even she seemed bored, just going through the motions of spy-lady competence. Did anyone else feel like the script couldn't decide if it wanted to be True Lies or a Hallmark movie? That prison sequence with all the cameos was particularly jarring; it's like they threw a bunch of recognizable faces at the screen hoping something would stick, but it just felt desperate. And the romantic chemistry... let's just say I've seen more spark in a damp firework. Cole's supposed to be this naive, lovable guy, completely out of his depth. But he just came across as clueless and kind of annoying. Was I the only one rooting for Sadie to just ditch him and go handle her missions solo? Seriously, did anyone actually buy into the 'insta-love' angle? Help me understand, because I'm starting to think I watched a completely different movie than the trailers suggested.
