Dream Scenario: Cage being Cage, but is it good Cage?

Okay, so I just got out of 'Dream Scenario' and I'm still processing, honestly. Like, the premise ALONE – Nicolas Cage showing up in everyone's dreams? That's already peak Cage, right? But the movie actually does something interesting with it. It's not just a silly, absurdist comedy (though, to be fair, it is often hilarious). I thought it was almost like a satire of internet fame and cancel culture, but with a really bizarre sci-fi twist. Cage is, unsurprisingly, fantastic. He totally nails the initially pathetic, slightly pathetic but ultimately kinda sinister Paul Matthews. There's this one scene, early on, where he's just standing awkwardly in the background of someone's dream, completely passive, and the expression on his face is KILLING me. You can see he's desperate for attention but also terrified of it. It's SO GOOD. And then when the dreams turn violent... whew. He really goes there. Though, I gotta admit, the dream sequences themselves got a little repetitive after a while. Like, we get it, dreams are weird and illogical. I'm still not sure if I loved it loved it, you know? It felt a little heavy-handed with its message at times, and the ending left me with more questions than answers. But it definitely stuck with me, which is more than I can say for most movies these days. Plus, seeing Nicolas Cage in, you know that Nicolas Cage mode, is always worth the price of admission for me! Anyone else seen it? What did you think? Was it a brilliant commentary on our obsession with celebrity, or just another weird Nicolas Cage movie? Or both? hehe.
