Dune: Part Two - Okay, NOW I Get It (Maybe?)

Alright, fellow spice addicts! Just got back from my third viewing of Dune: Part Two (yes, THREE TIMES). And honestly, I'm still processing. The visuals are just… next level. Like, I've never seen anything so epic on screen. But this time, I was really focusing on the smaller details, especially around the prophecy stuff. Okay, so remember the scene where Paul's drinking the Water of Life? First time I saw it, I was just stunned by Timothée Chalamet's acting. Now I noticed how the colours and shadows shift right before he fully 'becomes' the Kwisatz Haderach. Did anyone else catch that? The way the light flickers on his face…it’s almost like he's being overtaken by something else. It makes you really question how much of what he does is truly HIS choice, and how much is destiny manipulating him. Also, Lady Jessica's face during that whole ritual. She looks so proud... and terrifying. I'm still torn about Paul's arc. Like, am I supposed to be rooting for him? Because he becomes more and more unsettling as the movie goes on. And Chani's disillusionment is heartbreaking. Zendaya sells that so well. Honestly, it's making me rethink the whole 'chosen one' trope. Maybe it's never a good thing? One tiny quibble: I still think Florence Pugh wasn't given enough to do as Princess Irulan. But maybe they're saving her for Part Three (if it happens! Please let it happen!). Overall, though, Villeneuve has created something truly special, even if it leaves you with a really uneasy feeling in your stomach. Gotta go ponder this further...maybe a fourth viewing is in order? lol
