Inside Out 2 - Is Envy Actually...Good?

Okay, so I've seen Inside Out 2 like, four times already (don't judge!). And I'm starting to think we're looking at Envy all wrong. Hear me out! At first, she just seems like a whiny green pest, right? Always wanting what others have, making little digs at others. But think about it... when Riley is trying SO HARD to impress the older hockey girls, isn't Envy kinda... driving her to improve? Like, Riley sees Val's amazing wrist shot and Envy whispers "I want that!" - and Riley actually practices to get better. I know, I know, it seems crazy to give Envy credit, but I think the movie is hinting that even the 'bad' emotions can be useful. Like, Anxiety is obviously a mess, but she's also hyper-prepared (maybe a little too prepared). Maybe Envy's constant wanting is actually a motivator? It's like, 'Hey Riley, you COULD be better! Look at what's possible!'... which, honestly, isn't the worst thing to tell a teenager struggling with identity. It might be like, a messed up way of helping her strive for her goals. I'm still not totally convinced, and I definitely don't want to encourage excessive envy, lol. I just think the movie is subtley showing us nuance. It's not as simple as Joy = good, Anxiety = bad. These emotiions are supposed to work together, and even the ones that seem negative might have a place in the overall emotional landscape. What do you guys think? Am I reading too much into this? Let me know cause I'm obsessing over this flick!
