The Fall Guy - Stuntastic Fun, But Where's the Score Love?

Alright folks, just got back from seeing The Fall Guy and I gotta say, it was a wild ride! Practical effects are BACK baby! Seriously, the stunts in this movie are insane. That cannon roll scene they showed in the trailers? Even more impressive on the big screen. Gosling and Blunt have amazing chemistry, and the whole meta-Hollywood vibe was pretty entertaining. The plot's a little thin, I'll admit, and it kinda veers into predictable territory near the end, but honestly, I was mostly there for the explosions and Gosling's charm. Now, as a soundtrack guy, I always listen carefully. This is where I was a little disappointed. The music was…fine. There were some needle drops that worked well, like the Kiss song, but it felt like there was a real missed opportunity to elevate the action with a killer score. I can't even tell you who the composer was (or if it was a committee of composers!). Maybe I was too busy watching the cars flip, but nothing really jumped out at me. It did the job, it supported the scenes, but it didn't enhance them, you know? No memorable themes, no real emotional depth added through music. Huge bummer. I’m not saying the movie’s bad, not at all. It's a fun, popcorn flick that doesn't take itself too seriously. And honestly, the stunt work alone is probably worth the price of admission for some. But man, imagine how much better it could have been with a truly great score! Like, think what someone like Tyler Bates or even a Brian Tyler could have brought to this. We needed a theme for Colt! A theme for the movie magic! Argh. Anyway, go see it for the stunts, enjoy the Gosling/Blunt banter, just don't expect to be humming anything on the way out. Anyone else feel the same way about the score? Or am I just being overly critical, as per usual? Overall, I give it a solid B for pure entertainment value, but on the Hughes Score Scale™ (patent pending lol), it's more like a C+ because of the music situation. Still worth seeing, though. Also, bonus points for all the dog appearances. Always a win in my book.
