Red One: Is the Rock Officially Out of Ideas?

Okay, so the trailer for "Red One" dropped. Santa gets kidnapped and The Rock has to save Christmas? Seriously? Is he actively trying to make the worst possible movies? I'm not saying every Christmas movie needs to be some indie arthouse flick, but come ON. This plot sounds like it was brainstormed during a particularly intense sugar rush at a 7-Eleven. I can already see the "wacky" scenes where he tries to figure out elf culture or whatever. God help us. And don't even get me started on the potential for forced, unfunny jokes. I'm picturing painfully obvious product placement, too. Like, Santa flies around in a Tesla sleigh or something equally awful. I'm just so tired of seeing The Rock in these formulaic action comedies. He used to have some charm, but now it's just…predictable. Generic. Feels like he's phoning it in, collecting a paycheck, and contributing nothing of actual substance to cinema (or to the holidays). Honestly, the only thing that could redeem this is if they subvert expectations completely. What if the 'infamous tracker' is like, a cynical librarian who hates Christmas and ends up accidentally saving the day through sheer apathy? That I might watch. But based on the trailer, it's just more of the same: explosions, cheesy one-liners, and The Rock single-handedly saving the world. Look, I'm not saying it will be terrible. Maybe it will be so-bad-it's-good. But my gut tells me this is going to be another forgettable, overblown action flick disguised as a holiday movie. I'm predicting a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes, tops. prove me wrong Hollywood! Please?
