Okay, Twisters - Am I the Only One Who Felt This?
Guys, still processing Twisters. I went in expecting pure adrenaline-fueled chaos, and while there was definitely some of that (the visuals were INSANE, okay?!), I felt... something else bubbling underneath? Maybe it's just me, but I kinda think the movie's low-key hinting at climate change being the reason these mega-twisters are popping up. Like, they never explicitly say it, but the whole 'unprecedented phenomena' thing kept hitting me over the head. And Kate's character, with her PTSD from a past storm, seemed to be carrying the weight of not just personal trauma, but also a larger, looming environmental anxiety. Anyone else pick up on that, or am I reading way too much into it? And then there's Tyler. He's so obsessed with chasing clout and broadcasting everything, it almost felt like a commentary on how desensitized we've become to real danger via social media, you know? Maybe the bigger 'twist' isn't just the tornadoes themselves, but the fact that we're all becoming passive observers while the world literally falls apart (again, climate change!). I had this awful feeling during the scene where he's live-streaming from INSIDE the vehicle, like he was turning a natural disaster into entertainment, and no one was even batting an eye. Am I the only one who saw it this way because my anxiety is always on high-alert? Also, not gonna lie, I spent half the movie worrying about how many special effects artists had to pull all-nighters to make those tornadoes look real. It was intense! But seriously, climate change allegory or not, the movie definitely left me with an uneasy feeling. I don't know...maybe I'll go back next week. Anyone want to join? We can scream together!
