Twisters (2024): My Crackpot Theory on the 'Never Seen Before' Phenomena
Okay, so Twisters (2024) is on my radar big time, because tornadoes are basically natural disasters on steroids, and the brief plot description is screaming potential world-building fuel. 'Terrifying phenomena never seen before'? That's code for some crazy sci-fi intervention, right? My theory? This isn't just about bigger, badder tornadoes. I think we're looking at intentional weaponization. Hear me out: What if some shadowy corporation, (you KNOW there's gonna be one), is experimenting with weather manipulation? Maybe they're trying to control storms for…reasons (climate change narrative angle?). But something goes horribly wrong, creating these 'never seen before' tornadoes. Think of the possibilities! Tornadoes with electrical fields? Firenadoes that actually spew some made-up element? Gravity distortion within the eye of the storm? I base this primarily on two things 1) Kate's backstory as a 'former' storm chaser implies something bad happened, maybe directly tied to dangerous (and secret) weather experiments that made her quit AND 2) Tyler being a 'reckless social-media superstar' is too on-the-nose. He's going to stumble upon something he shouldn't, get caught on camera, and unleash the conspiracy. The real twist is that the government will try to cover it all, and the storm chasers have to expose it, all while battling the craziest, most scientifically-impossible tornadoes ever. I'm SO ready for some cheesy dialogue about 'the power of nature' juxtaposed the insane science. Am I going too far? Probably. But a guy can dream right? I'm really hoping it's not just bigger CGI tornadoes. I need some wild, physics-bending stuff to really be happy. If there are tornado-based lasers, I'll forgive all sins. What do you guys think? What 'never seen before' phenomena would make this movie truly next level? Maybe a tornado...in space? lol, just kidding (mostly).
