Okay, "Damsel" on Netflix... Dragon was COOL but HELLA Confused
Alright fellow horror and thriller junkies, I just powered through "Damsel" on Netflix and I have...thoughts. Look, the visuals were STUNNING. That dragon? Legitimately terrifying and beautifully rendered. Millie Bobby Brown is always great, even though her character, Elodie, spends most of the movie covered in grime and running for her life. But did anyone else feel like the story was kinda... all over the place? Like, the whole twist of the kingdom sending princesses as sacrifices was interesting, but the motivation felt weak? They were just kinda like, "Oops, we accidentally killed the dragon's babies ages ago, so now we gotta keep feeding it pretty brides." Seriously? And Elodie's whole survival arc felt a little rushed. One minute she's a naive royal, the next she's setting elaborate traps? I get she's resourceful, but it felt… convenient? And that scene in the dragon's lair where she figures out the truth about the glowing sap? Visually amazing, but was I the only one yelling at the screen, "WHY DIDN'T ANY OF THE OTHER PRINCESSES THINK OF THAT?!" Seriously, centuries of sacrifices and no one considered that? Maybe they weren't so bright, I guess. So, I'm curious, am I being too harsh? Did y'all find the plot holes as glaring as I did, or did you get swept up in the visuals and Millie Bobby Brown's performance? What did you think about the ending? Did Elodie make the right choice? Hit me with you're thoughts! I'm dying (pun intended) to hear what everyone else thought. Is it rewatchable, or one and done?
