Frozen Empire: My Crackpot Theory on Phoebe and...Garraka?
Alright folks, scottscreens here! Just got out of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and, like Venkman said, "I'm picking up a signal...maybe it's the proximity of all the dead people." Because, yeah, I have a theory. Buckle up. It revolves around Phoebe and Garraka. Hear me out! The movie definitely pushes the 'Phoebe feels like an outsider' thing, right? And then we get Melody, the ghost girl, and that whole connection. But what if the REAL connection that's brewing isn't with her, but with Garraka himself? We see Phoebe's super smart, and Garraka's clearly ancient and powerful. Maybe, maybe, in the chaos he recognizes something in her unique brain, some potential? He's locked up, but could be subtly influencing her, even just tempting and goading her. Like the Emperor did with Luke, except with ice and actual death. I mean, "are you a god?" Phoebe could go dark, and honestly, I'd be here for it. Now, before you bust me with a proton pack, I'm not saying Phoebe's gonna become the next big bad...yet. But the movie sets up her feeling isolated and looking for a connection. Why not twist the knife? Imagine a sequel where Garraka's influence starts to subtly corrupt her thinking, leading to some serious internal conflict. We had the Egon/Dana and Vinz Clortho possetion so why not an ancient evil influening a young ghostbuster? It raises the stakes way more than just another ghost to bust. And, let's be real, McKenna Grace crushed it, she could handle a more complex, morally grey role. It's a long shot, sure, but it'd be a way more interesting direction than just rinse and repeat. Plus, think of the quotable moments! Someone get me a beer, I'm ready to debate this all night. What do you guys think? Am I totally off my rocker, or is there something icy brewing under the surface?
