Okay, "The Idea of You" - thoughts? (August Moon fans, assemble!)
So, I finally got around to watching The Idea of You. I know, I know, I'm late to the party. I've been catching up on some classic Satyajit Ray films, but this one has been on everyone's lips! As someone who normally dives deep into art house cinema, this felt like a total guilty pleasure moment, but honestly, I wasn't mad about it. I mean, the premise is pure fantasy, right? A 40-year-old and a boy band heartthrob? But it was kinda charming. I'm curious what everyone thought about the age gap. Did it feel... I don't know, creepy? Or did it work for you? I think the actors did a pretty good job navigating it, but there were definitely moments where I was like, "Okay, this is...a lot." And speaking of acting, how good was Hayes (Nicholas Galitze) playing the popstar role? It's a big departure for him. I was totally into the music performances (are we getting an August Moon album IRL?!). My biggest question is this: Did anyone else get major Harry Styles vibes from Hayes? It's almost too obvious, isn't it? And did that help or hurt your enjoyment of the film? For me, it was a mixed bag. On one hand, it made the 'boy band fantasy' element more real. On the other, I kept wondering if the whole story was simply a fanfiction made into a movie. What did you all think about the ending too, was it satifying at all or did it feel like a cop out?
