Argylle: Killer Outfits or Just Kitsch?
Okay, so I just saw Argylle and, like, the plot was... a LOT. But as always, my eyes were glued to the COSTUMES! Elly Conway's (Bryce Dallas Howard) cozy knits were totally my vibe – especially that argyle sweater (duh!). It was giving 'introverted author chic' but I wonder if it was too on the nose, considering the title. Maybe a bit much? But what really got me thinking was how they balanced the 'real world' vs. the 'spy world' through clothes. Sam Rockwell's whole vibe was peak spy-trying-to-blend-in-but-still-looking-effortlessly-cool. Anyone else obsessed with his scarf choices? They were kind of amazing. And Sofia Boutella... those high-fashion villain looks? DEAD. I need to know who was styling her, because she slayed every scene. So, my question is: Did the costumes sell the story for you? Did they help you buy into the whole unbelievable-but-fun concept? Or were they a distraction? I'm torn! I loved specific pieces, but sometimes it felt a bit like they were screaming LOOK AT THE COSTUME! instead of just... existing. Let me know your thoughts! PS - That cat carrier backpack was EVERYTHING. I need one in every color...and maybe a cat to put in it.
