Okay, "IF" was CUTE! (but a little bittersweet 🥺)
So, we just got back from seeing "IF" and the kids LOVED it! Honestly, so did I. It was just such a sweet story, and you know me, I'm a sucker for anything tugging at the heartstrings. The whole concept of imaginary friends being forgotten? Oh man, that hit me hard. I even had a moment thinking about my own childhood imaginary friend, Barnaby the Bear (don't judge! 😂). Bea's character (Cailey Fleming) was wonderful. She really carried so much of the emotional weight, and the scenes with Blue (the big furry guy voiced by Steve Carell) were just adorable. I especially liked the scene where Bea is trying to help Blue find his kid again, and they have that montage of going through old drawings. It was just so well done and felt really authentic. I appreciate seeing movies that are not full of non-sense, and bring a thoughtful concept to screen. Ryan Reynolds was... Ryan Reynolds, lol. He’s always so charismatic, but honestly, I thought he could have been toned down a little. He almost felt like he was in a different movie sometimes, but I was laughing all the same. My youngest was OBSESSED with the Bubble character – he kept saying “Bubble, Bubble!” all the way home. I think he's going to be asking for a purple, bubble-shaped stuffie for his birthday now, ugh!! Overall, it's a really solid family flick. I wouldn't say it's the NEXT Pixar movie or anything, but it's definitely worth seeing for a fun, feel-good experience. Just maybe bring some tissues, because you might get a little misty-eyed! Let me know what you guys thought if you see it!
