Okay, "Atlas" on Netflix... I have THOUGHTS!!
So, I just finished watching "Atlas" with JLo, and wow, I'm still processing! The basic story is about this woman who hates AI but has to team up with one to save the world or something. I went into it expecting a dumb action flick, but it actually got to me! The whole 'trust the machine' thing is a classic trope, but the way they explored Atlas's (JLo) trauma surrounding AI? That felt real. There were moments where I was seriously tearing up, especially during that scene in the mech where she relives her past...UGH, right in the feels!! I'm not gonna lie, the action sequences were pretty cool! Especially when they're dodging lasers and outsmarting rogue robots. But honestly, it was the emotional connection between Atlas and Smith (the AI) that really got me invested. The evolution of their relationship from distrust to almost...friendship? It caught me by surprise! I was honestly rooting for them both by the end! It's a solid sci-fi action movie that actually made me feel, which is always a plus in my book. I did find it pretty predictable at times, but the performances really elevated the material. There are definitely some plotholes here and there (like, how did that one robot know EXACTLY what Atlas was going to do at that one point?!). The dialogue was a little clunky sometimes? but overall, I really enjoyed it. It wasn't groundbreaking or anything, but who goes into a JLo sci-fi movie expecting that? Haha! If you're looking for something to watch that will give you some thrills AND a little bit of heartstrings tugging, give it a shot! Let me know what you thought! And PS: I think I need a robot buddy now...I am joking...mostly. 😉
