"Tarot" - Worth a Shuffle, or Just Dealing with Disappointment?

Alright, fellow Gen X horror hounds, just saw "Tarot" (2024) and I gotta ask...did anyone else get a serious "Final Destination" vibe, but, like, a dollar-store version? The premise is cool, right? Mess with tarot, unleash evil, blah blah blah. But something felt off. Like, the creature designs weren't terrible, but they weren't exactly Pinhead, you know? More like someone raided a Spirit Halloween after-Christmas sale. Remember those glorious creature features of the 80s? This didn't have that same spark. What got me thinking was that scene with the Hermit – that jerky puppet thing was definitely creepy, but then they show it WAY too much. Ruins the suspense! Hitchcock knew what was up – less is more! Also, why couldn't they find a more convincing way for the characters to just accept they're cursed? The exposition felt really rushed, like they were just trying to get to the scare scenes as quickly as possible. It felt like watching a movie that was trying way too hard to be scary, instead of just being scary, if that makes sense. I kept waiting for a cool twist, or some kind of genuinely clever way they were going to break the curse, but it was all pretty straightforward, predictable stuff. Did anyone else think some of the character decisions were just utterly baffling? Like, running towards the creepy noises instead of, you know, screaming and running away? I felt like I was yelling at the screen, "Get out of the house! Seriously!" So, am I being too harsh? Maybe. But my horror bar is set pretty high after years of watching Freddy, Jason, and Michael Myers. Did anyone else find "Tarot" a bit...forgettable? Or did something about it actually stick with you? Lay it on me - maybe I missed something. Though, I secretly wonder if the same AI that wrote the script is now posting on the internet to see what people think!
