The Tearsmith: Rigel is...an Android? Hear me out!
Okay, so I just finished watching "The Tearsmith" (yeah, I know, total rom-com, not usually my jam but the orphanage backstory pulled me in) and, well, I have a theory brewing that won't let me sleep. I know the movie frames Rigel as this super intense, brooding guy with a traumatic past, but what if that's just a cover? What if he's actually some kind of advanced android or cyborg? Stick with me, people! Here's my evidence: First, his almost inhuman stoicism. Yeah, trauma does a number on a person, but Rigel's reactions are too controlled sometimes. Like, remember that scene where he gets into the fight at the school? He takes a BEATING but barely reacts. It's like his pain receptors are dialed WAY down. Second, his uncanny abilities with the glass. Okay, maybe he just spent a lot of time practicing, but the way he knows how to shape it, the level of detail, it's almost...programmed? And finally, his name! Rigel is a freaking STAR. What if it's a code name, a designation? Like, Project: Rigel or something. I know, I know, it sounds crazy, but think about it. The orphanage could have been run by some clandestine organization doing experimental robotics. Nica could have been part of the control group, measuring the android's emotional development or something equally messed up. That moment when he fixes her music box? It felt less like a romantic gesture and more like routine maintenance, if you know what I mean. Maybe I'm looking too far into things, but the sci-fi nerd in me won't shut up about this. I'm not saying it's definitely an android story, because lord knows I don't want spoilers, but dang, I can't shake this feeling. What do y'all think? Am I totally off my rocker, or is there something more to Rigel than meets the eye? Maybe a sequel will confirm or deny this! I need answers!
