Gator (not the animal, the Burt Reynolds one!) - So Bad It's...Endearing?

Okay, so I just finished watching "Gator" (1976), the Burt Reynolds one, and...wow. I went in expecting a fun, cheesy action flick, and I got...something. I mean, the plot basically boils down to Burt Reynolds playing Gator McKlusky (again!), freshly out of prison and trying to stay out of trouble (narrator: he fails). But then the Feds get involved and want him to take down a corrupt politician? It's all very...plotty. Look, objectively, it's not a good movie. The directing is... a choice (I think Burt directed it himself, which...explains things). The dialogue is...well, it's very 70s. And the plot? Let's just say, logic takes a vacation. But here's the thing: I couldn't stop watching. It's got that certain 'so bad it's good' quality, you know? Plus, Jerry Reed is in it, and anything with Jerry Reed is automatically elevated in my book. The scene where they're doing the car chase in the swamp is peak 70's ridiculousness. Seriously, the fashion alone is worth the price of admission (if you can find it cheap!). Also, has anyone else noticed that Burt Reynolds basically plays the same character in every movie? Not that I'm complaining, exactly. Anyway, I definitely wouldn't recommend this if you're looking for cinematic brilliance, but if you're in the mood for some good ol' Southern-fried, slightly-offensive (by today's standards) fun, give "Gator" a shot. Just don't say I didn't warn you. What did y'all think?
