Chisum: Is This Underrated John Wayne Gold?

Okay, so I finally got around to watching "Chisum" (1970). I know, I know, I'm late to the party. Been meaning to check it out for ages 'cause, you know, John Wayne. Dude was a legend. And honestly? I was pleasantly surprised. I went in expecting a pretty standard Western, but it had this interesting dynamic with Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett being on the same side as Chisum. Who knew, right? The plot, from what I gathered, is about this land war going on in New Mexico. Chisum is this big cattle rancher and these corrupt dudes are trying to steal his land. I especially dug the scene when John Wayne is standing up to Forrest Tucker's character, Lawrence Murphy. So good! And Geoffrey Deuel as Billy the Kid was a solid choice, he had that mischievous edge. It's cool seeing him as a kinda good guy for once, if you know what I mean. I guess the director is unknown? That always makes me wonder WHAT happened. It's not gonna win any awards for originality or anything, but the action scenes were decent, and the whole dynamic between the characters kept me engaged. Plus, any movie where John Wayne's laying down the law is alright in my book. LOL. I’m not saying it's the best Western ever made, but if you're looking for a fun, classic Western with a few twists, definitely give "Chisum" a shot. You could do WAY worse. Anyone else seen it? What did you guys think? Was I too easy on it? Should I rewatch and look fo flaws? Let me know!
